Dear reader,

We hope you enjoy reading it!

HTM-panel

Your journey evaluations

In these times, holidaying in your own country and maybe even in your own city is more popular than ever. Public transport is back for everyone and it can also be used for enjoyable outings. The Hague has more than enough attractions to offer and HTM is delighted to get everyone there by bus and tram. So if you go somewhere this summer by bus or tram, do please let us know what you thought of your journey and complete an evaluation form.

Results from Corona measures survey

At the end of May, you were invited to take part in a survey on your travelling behaviour during the Corona pandemic and we asked you for your opinion on various measures. Around 800 panel members responded to the invitation. Passengers were overwhelmingly positive about HTM's measures. A clear majority really liked the driver shielding and the automatic opening of the doors at that time. It was greatly appreciated that the HTM trams and buses continued to run. Although very many of you indicated that we should run a bit more often. That did happen on 1 June and from that date, HTM is running the full service again. The face mask however remains a reason for many people not to travel on public transport for the time being.
Here are some results from this survey:
  • 52% of the respondents have no choice but to make their necessary journeys with HTM;
  • 82% of the respondents state that they modify their travelling behaviour according to government recommendations;
  • 90% avoid busy places and say they consider it important to keep their distance from others;
  • 40% indicate that they now work at home more often than they did before the Corona crisis;
  • 77% of the respondents can maintain a proper distance at the stop, while 39% state that this works well in trams and buses;
  • 24% do not travel or travel less with HTM because a face mask is mandatory;
  • 32% travel just as often or more with HTM now that a face mask is mandatory.

Results from distance stickers at Spui and Rijnstraat stops

To help our passengers to maintain distance from each other, both while waiting and when getting on and off, a test with stickers was done at the Spui and Rijnstraat stops. 13% of you indicated you had come across this measure live at one of the stops mentioned. 62% of these thought it was a good measure. You did state you were concerned whether everyone kept to the measure. Finally, based on all the results, and also thanks to feedback from the HTM Panel, the stickering was further optimised and applied at more than 180 of our busiest stops.

Travelling responsibly together on public transport

Now that public transport is again available for an outing, HTM is asking everyone who travels by bus or tram to keep to the arrangements. This means having a valid ticket, wearing a face mask if you are aged 13 or over, and giving each other space. We constantly clean our trams and buses thoroughly, including the stop/door buttons and rails. The seats on our buses and trams are fully available, but please give everyone space even if you have to stand.

HTM arranges for the best possible distribution of passengers. And we are certainly making progress. For example, we have put the idea of a crowding indicator to our passengers. A crowding indicator can help you choose the best possible time for your journey. The idea got 8.2 out of 10 from the respondents. We are now investigating how such a crowding indicator could work in practice.

Summer at HTM with tram 34

The summer holiday has now really started; HTM has been running the summer timetable since 18 July. And that goes for the new tram 34, too. This runs between De Savornin Lohmanplein and Zoetermeer Lansingerland, so it is a combination of trams 3 and 4. This summer peak line is the result of an survey that we took with the panel last year. A majority of the respondents wanted the summer peak line to get its own number. This summer, HTM will therefore run peak tram number 34, so that our passengers can easily identify it.

Combine the tram or bus with bike or scooter?

Convenience suits people! HTM has made it possible not only to plan a bus or tram trip via the HTM travel app, but also to see whether an HTM Bike is available nearby, or a shared scooter from felyx or GoSharing. From the planner, you are forwarded to the app you need to reserve one of these. 23% of you stated you hadn’t heard about the HTM Bike. For this reason, we raffled some HTM Bike credit among our participants. Have you already tried the bike?
Park+Beach
To optimise access to Scheveningen in the summer, The Hague municipality has introduced Qpark and HTM Park+Beach.

With a Park+Beach reservation, you can park economically at Q-Park CS-New Babylon and simply take tram 9 from The Hague Central Station to the beach at Scheveningen.

Cost of the parking ticket and tram return from €5. The Park+Beach can be reserved via www.q-park.nl/parkbeach.

During the summer, additional trams run on the busiest part of tram 9's route – between Scheveningen Noord and Hollands Spoor Station.
