In 2015, HTM started to run the new urban trams on the route of Tram 2. At that time, we asked the HTM-panel for views on these new vehicles. In response to the results, we added extra handholds in the trams at that time. Another result was that 64% of participants thought that the new trams were less visible at night than the RandstadRail trams. As the coachwork of the vehicles now needs maintenance, we can finally modify the colour combination. This will improve visibility and traffic safety. The new colours will also match the appearance of our other trams and buses better. At the same time, we’re replacing the seat upholstery by more durable artificial leather. The work on each tram will last for six weeks. The last one is expected to be ready at the end of 2023. The new spacious trams and electric buses, which will start to run in a few years, will get the same colour combination.
