New annual timetable and change to tram 3

HTM’s new 2020 annual timetable comes into effect on Sunday 15 December. The bus and tram departure times are changing. There are also changes in frequency for trams 2, 3, 6, 9, 11 and 12. The routes and frequencies for buses are not changing. Please visit htm.nl to learn more.

The biggest change is the adjustment to tram 3 during rush hour. What is the idea? The “short route journeys” run between Loosduinen and The Hague Central Station. The “long route journeys” run between De Savornin Lohmanplein and Zoetermeer Centrum. Passenger numbers and customer responses show that the current journeys between Loosduinen and Zoetermeer are particularly crowded during rush hour. It also turns out that nearly all passengers getting on between Loosduinen and De Savornin Lohmanplein do not travel further than The Hague Central Station. This means that they do not really need to be on the tram that continues to Zoetermeer. It is precisely the people that get on the tram from De Savornin Lohmanplein who wish to continue to Zoetermeer. This way, we hope to achieve a better distribution of passengers over the trams and buses. And hopefully it will make travelling during rush hour more comfortable.
