HTM has been rolling out new payment methods on trams for a few months now. This is safer for staff, and also meets passengers’ growing demand to be able to pay using their bank or credit cards (contactless). As a result, it is no longer possible to purchase tickets from the driver on the red-and-beige tram. Passengers must buy their tickets using the ticket machine on the tram. They can pay using their bank or credit card, as well as in cash.

The next stage is replacing the outdated machines on RandstadRail trams, so that bank and credit cards (contactless) and cash can also be used to pay here. Kinder Dagkaarten (children’s one-day tickets) will also be available on these machines.
